Kids & Youth Programs at Sojiujitsu
Hands-on coaching. Technical precision. A community that helps every student grow into their best self.
At SoJiuJitsu, our kids and youth programs are designed to help students grow in confidence, discipline, and skill while training in a positive and supportive environment.
Each class is tailored to the needs of different age groups and experience levels, ensuring that students are challenged appropriately as they progress.
Our coaches emphasize technical precision and personal attention — every child receives detailed feedback and guidance to support steady growth.
Classes blend technical instruction, drilling, and live movement to build coordination, focus, and self-belief.
We don’t just teach jiu-jitsu; we help students understand why each movement matters, developing both skill and character with every class.
With a focus on safety, respect, and teamwork, we create a structured setting where kids can build strong foundations, develop lifelong values, and become part of a welcoming community.
Our Method
The SoJiuJitsu Method is built on three interconnected pillars:
Martial Arts Philosophy – Instilling respect, discipline, and focus as the foundation for success in training and in life.
Technical Study and Application – Teaching with precision and presence, providing hands-on guidance to ensure every student develops clean, effective technique.
Competition – Encouraging healthy competition to build confidence, resilience, and continuous improvement.
We use these pillars to help students unlock their potential both on and off the mats — developing physical skill, mental strength, and values that last a lifetime.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
We structure this program with fun games to build trust, improve listening skills, boost mobility, and introduce teamwork and healthy competition in an age-appropriate way. These games also create a positive atmosphere that makes young children excited to train.
-
Once your child turns 7 years old, you can ask the instructors if the student is ready for the next program. The coach will either transition them to the next age program or decide to keep them in the Little Grapplers program for a little longer to continue the work they have been doing together. Students in Level 02 will most likely move to Level 02 in the Junior Warriors Program and the coaches will wait until the students have the size and maturity to merge into the new program. It can take a little longer, but they will be skipping the Level 01 in the following program.
Junior Warriors (Beginners 8+)
The Junior Warriors program builds a strong foundation in the fundamental techniques of jiu-jitsu — including positions, escapes, takedowns, and submissions.
Students learn to train respectfully with partners while developing confidence, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Our coaches provide hands-on corrections and encouragement, ensuring that each student understands how and why every technique works.
Program Goals:
Build discipline, focus, and respect
Learn key jiu-jitsu positions and movements
Improve strength, agility, and balance
Develop teamwork and communication skills
Gain confidence through consistent progress
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Every Level 01 student will be evaluated during the classes and the instructors will promote students to the next level based on their skill and ability to focus in the class. Every level has an increase of intensity in the Curriculum and it's important that every student that is promoted is able to handle the adjustment.
Belt promotion does not mean that the student will move to Level 02, since belt promotions are more related to their consistency and effort. Parents can approach the instructors to ask about their child's progress and what is missing in order to move to the next level. Private lessons working on that specific skillset can speed up the process. -
We allow any student to join competitions if the instructors agree that they are ready for it. Competitions bring a lot of lessons to the student but it is important for them to understand what to expect before entering it. A good strategy to help them is to ask the instructors when the next local competition will take place and take your child there to watch their teammates and to see if there is an interest in joining the next event.

Kids Advanced & Competition
This program is designed for young athletes who have demonstrated strong technical ability and consistent dedication to training. Entry is by instructor approval to ensure that every student is ready for the pace and responsibility of the class.
